SUMMARY:Worley Max McKinney to Perform at Big Creek Winery June 20
DESCRIPTION:Make plans to attend a special night of music and local storytelling on June 20 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Big Creek Winery. \nGiles County native and longtime songwriter Worley Max McKinney will take the stage to share selections from his newest album\, The Land of Milk and Honey: Songs and Memories From Giles County\, Tennessee. The project features 16 original songs inspired by the people\, places and traditions of the county he has called home his entire life. \nMcKinney\, who was raised in the Beech Hill community and educated at Beech Hill School and Martin College\, still lives on his farm in the Beech Hill and Frankewing area. His deep connection to Giles County has shaped much of his songwriting over the years\, something he fully realized after being invited to headline a Writer’s Night in Knoxville. While preparing for that performance\, he discovered just how many of his songs were rooted in his hometown\, sparking the idea for an album devoted entirely to Giles County. \nThe album brings together previously released songs such as “Giles County Christmas\,” “Lynnville Girl\,” “Out on Beech Hill Road” and “Tennessee Homecoming\,” along with new material including “Home to Campbellsville\,” “Giles County\, Pulaski Post Office\,” “The Land of Milk and Honey” and “Safely Home.” \nIn addition to his work as a performer\, McKinney has built a respected career in the Nashville music industry. His songs have been recorded by artists including Conway Twitty\, Don Gibson\, Moe Bandy\, Daryl Singletary\, John Wesley Ryles\, Neon Cactus and Linda Davis. He also co-wrote “Your Unfailing Love\,” which appeared on the Grammy Award-winning album Love Remains by Hillary Scott and the Scott Family. \nThe June 20 event will feature live performances\, stories behind the songs and an opportunity to meet McKinney. CDs of the new album will be available for purchase for $10. \nThe event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to attend.
